Workforce Overview

Our Talent Landscape
As we work to produce the energy the world needs, we know our current and future success depends on attracting, engaging, developing and deploying a diverse, engaged workforce with the technical expertise to support our business.

As of Dec. 31, 2021, we had approximately 1,500 active, full-time employees worldwide, with 71% of employees located in the U.S. and 29% located in Equatorial Guinea (EG). We prioritize local hiring, and 93% of our Marathon EG Production Limited workforce was Equatoguinean in 2021.

For the U.S. workforce, average tenure for full-time employees was eight years, with 33% of our full-time employee population having 10 or more years of experience. In 2021, we saw a slight increase in employee turnover in the U.S. and continued to see low rates of employee turnover in EG. See the EG section for more information.
